Story of the Month

By Richa Bafna

In Harnai, the fisherwomen wear handmade gold jewellery, layered in intricate ear stacks and necklaces. Each piece tells a story of their identity and livelihood, featuring motifs celebrating their connection to the sea—often including fish, a symbol of their trade. They take immense pride in their appearance, wearing beautiful saris, gold jewellery, and adorned buns, amidst their everyday routine of selling fish and working outdoors.
